Listen & Assess
We begin with your dog’s history, current behavior, routines, environment, and the goals that would make the biggest difference in your life together.
Experienced. Personal. Built for real life.
Led by owner and head trainer Sean Demers, Hill Country K9 combines more than 20 years of experience with training plans built around the individual dog, the people who live with them, and the life they share.
Meet Sean Demers
Sean has spent more than two decades working with dogs across a wide range of needs—from puppies and family companions to challenging behavioral cases and advanced working-dog skills.
That experience has reinforced a simple idea: no two dogs learn exactly the same way. Effective training has to account for temperament, history, motivation, environment, the owner’s goals, and what daily life actually looks like at home.
Hill Country K9 was built to provide more than a collection of lessons. Clients receive a personalized plan, clear follow-up instructions, practical resources, ongoing communication, and lifetime trainer support designed to help the work hold up long after the formal program ends.
Our approach at a glance
The best plan is the one that makes sense for the dog in front of us and gives you the skills to carry it forward.
The HCK9 Success System
Our six-part process looks beyond the surface behavior, creates clear communication, builds useful skills, and prepares both dog and owner to succeed in everyday life.
We begin with your dog’s history, current behavior, routines, environment, and the goals that would make the biggest difference in your life together.
We look at motivation, emotional state, learned patterns, genetics, and environmental triggers so the plan addresses more than the visible symptom.
Your dog learns how to recognize guidance, make successful choices, and understand what earns reinforcement through fair, consistent communication.
We build the obedience, confidence, impulse control, handling skills, and replacement behaviors your dog needs for the goals in their plan.
Skills are gradually practiced around realistic environments and distractions so they can become dependable outside a controlled training session.
We coach you through maintaining the work and provide lesson follow-ups, resources, communication, and lifetime trainer support when questions arise.
Why train with Hill Country K9
Clients often come to us after another program has not delivered what they needed. Our job is to listen carefully, be honest about the path forward, and build support around the actual problem.
A broad background allows us to recognize patterns, adapt quickly, and work with needs ranging from puppy foundations to difficult behavior and advanced skills.
We consider temperament, learning style, history, lifestyle, and owner goals before recommending a program or training approach.
Training is connected to the routines, environments, and distractions where you need reliable behavior—not only the training setup.
Detailed follow-ups, educational resources, trainer communication, HCK9 HQ, and lifetime support give owners somewhere to turn when questions arise.
From early puppy development and household manners to behavior rehabilitation, scent work, and protection skills, your plan can grow with your dog.
We help you choose the level of training that fits the situation rather than assuming every dog needs the longest or most intensive program.
Support beyond the session
Our mobile-friendly training hub keeps your dog’s information, lesson guidance, communication, schedule, and progress together in one place.
Common questions
Every situation is different. These answers provide a starting point, and we can discuss your dog’s specific needs during a consultation.
Ask Us a QuestionPrograms include private lessons, day training, Board & Train, puppy training, basic and advanced obedience, behavioral rehabilitation, CGC preparation and testing, scent detection, off-leash training, and personal protection and security work.
We work with dogs across breeds, ages, experience levels, and training needs—from puppies beginning at eight weeks and family dogs learning better manners to fearful, reactive, aggressive, and advanced working dogs.
Training is customized to the individual dog. We draw from a range of humane reinforcement and communication techniques, considering behavior, motivation, emotional state, environment, and owner goals rather than relying on one fixed method.
Program length depends on your dog’s needs, previous training, behavior, and goals. After learning more about your situation, we will recommend the most realistic format and length.
Yes. Clients receive lifetime trainer support for questions that come up after their formal program, along with the follow-up guidance and resources included with their training.
Remote collars are not necessary or appropriate for every dog. When included in a plan, they are introduced carefully as a communication tool under professional guidance—not used to punish the dog.
